Can you believe it’s September? I’m already feeling the urge to Fall shop, buy hot cocoa and snuggle up under a warm flannel blankie! {Hugs} and {High-fives} to mamas whose children who had their first day of school. I imagine it’s great to start a routine, but also bittersweet to see them grow and start a new grade. I get tears in my eyes just thinking about it, so I’m hoping this year runs long as Will starts 4 year old preschool next year and will be away from me then! The separation anxiety is strong inside of me and only compounded by being home with them all day, every day, although I’m sure after a week or two I will welcome the time with Waverly! Getting groceries is so much easier with one!
Cheers! Have a great Labor Day Weekend!!

{Thankful Thursday} is a wonderful weekly link up, please join in! There is a lot in our lives to be thankful for; some weeks or days it’s easy to see and some it takes searching for, but the important thing is always to be aware of the blessings He gives us. These are the things in my heart.
This week I am so thankful for many things!
20. Gods presence in Waverly’s surgery. Just seeing her walking around today and playing with her brother warms my heart. When they brought her out of surgery, and she was waking up, looking so tiny, groggy and not herself, saying “ouchie,” I thought my heart would break, so I’m so thankful to see her back to her old self!
21. Healthy, real food and smart girlfriends! A conversation with a girlfriend last week re-energized my desire to help us eat better! I’m so glad we chatted and now I’ve been done drinking soda (5 days now!) and we’ve bought a few different products to amp up our health and natural factor. A couple simple conversions- Jif Natural Peanut Butter to our store’s peanut butter machine-just push a button and out comes natural peanut butter; another was V8 Fruit Fusion to Vrut (less ingredients!)
22. Knee Boots and Sweaters. I am so excited for Fall and thankful for the 4 seasons we experience here. The smell in the air is already starting to change and I’m so excited to snuggle up in warm sweaters and the great new brown boots I got!
23. Last Sunday’s Sermon. One take-away has stuck with me and I’m thankful that I heard it….”we are not owed happiness.” I heard the same theme again when talking to my stepmom this week, she said something like, “We deserve Hell and God has given us His Son, everything else is just a gift.” There are so many times when I feel owed things or that I deserve them; a faster check-out, some help from my husband, even that new pair of boots. Just a great reminder for me, and for that I’m very thankful!

{For William and Waverly}
Speak up.
I don’t care about the if, when, where, just when it doubt…speak up. There are so many times in my life I have stood, tongue glued to my mouth and thought one of the following:
{Is that doctor sure?}
{What was that again?}
{You want me to pay how much?}
{Wow, that was rude.}
{Hmm…that doesn’t seem right, but…}
I’ve made excuses in my mind when my heart was saying “SPEAK UP!” It has been as small as wanting to ask “Can you explain that again?” in a high school class or as daunting as wanting to say “No.” No is the hardest, single word sentence to say.
Being a mom, your advocate, has forced this voice out. It stops me from nodding, tongue-tied and gives me the confidence to say “no” or “what do you mean by that?” or “I don’t think so” and most importantly, “Take a bite of your peas”.
{I know you can find your confidence sooner!}
So when you aren’t sure, speak up. The regret of either making someone angry or sticking your foot in your mouth or looking stupid will fade, but not speaking up can be trait that robs you of so many things.
{Always use tact, please use grace, I know you can say things in a polite way, so speak up}
Daddy and I try so hard to give you a voice in our home, to listen as you speak, to let you know, because it’s so true, that your voice is important, your words and your thoughts matter.The world should hear you, at any age, my young friends.
{So, speak up little ones, speak up}
Love,
Mom

BabyMel was started in 2006 by Melanie Marshall and Suzi Bergman, the co-founders of StorkSak. Carried by celebrities and much loved for their stylish design and quality materials, StorkSak has a line of bags that would make any mom happy, but with a higher price point aren’t as affordable for every family. BabyMel was created to offer families an attractive, functional diaper bag at a great price!
In 2007, BabyMel launched it’s first collection featuring the Amanda bag, since then the company has grown, offering a wide selection of equally adorable and functional bags in a variety of colors and styles. A unique feature of BabyMel bags is the patent pending Strollerstrap, a feature that allows the bag to be attached to a stroller! Every BabyMel bag also features a durable, wipe-cleaning lining and multiple pockets for easy storage and organization.
You can see the selection of BabyMel bags on their site! I was one lucky girl as I got an {awesome, awesome, awesome} BabyMel X2 diaper bag! It’s a unique bag that can be snapped together and carried as one bag or snapped apart and carried separately-TWO bags in one! Cool, right? It works great for parents of twins or with more than one child…or that want more than one child! You can always carry one bag now and attach the second when your next child arrives! Or pack one bag for Dad to carry and one for Mom to carry or one for daycare and one for home…..the possibilities are endless! Love that it’s a bag that can work for everyone!

The X2 can be worn as a messenger bag or as a shoulder bag, with a long strap that easily adjusts to the length needed. In any given day I have flipped it across my back messenger style, attached it on the stroller, attached it to a shopping cart, threw it on my shoulder and of course, the kids love to drag it in the house for me!
Features of the BabyMel X2:
Materials: The inner and outer are 100% polyester
Testing Duration: We have been using BabyMel bags for over a year (I have an Amanda bag) and we have been using our X2 for a week.
Company Reliability: We had the old version of the Amanda bag originally (not even on the site anymore-it was a version without strollerstrap) and I had a strap break about 6 months ago. I simply got my receipt, contacted them, sent the old bag in and got a NEW Amanda bag (I was so excited when I saw it had strollerstrap!) I was very impressed with the company’s response and with the speed of getting a bag back into my hands; it was one of the reasons I eventually contacted them about a giveaway and sharing their great bags with you!
Use: I use my X2 as my everyday bag now. It’s so nice to have with our 2 kids! I pack the darker color bag with Will and Waverly’s things (change of clothes for each and a few diapers, wipes, a couple small toys) and the lighter color bag with my things and snacks (wallet, wristlet, snacks and 2 cups). I love that one bag is my “go-to” bag, I always need my money and snacks/drinks for the kids during errands and it’s nice not to have to dig through extra clothes and diapers while trying to find something at a checkout! The other bag holds necessities, I always need extra clothes for Will, who is potty training, and Waverly, who loves to spread food and snacks all over herself and is still in diapers! When going on a longer trip with Daddy, to say the zoo or the mall, I plan on packing one bag for each child-so that if we decide to divide and conquer
then it’s easy to send Will, and Daddy, with the things he needs!
Laundry: BabyMel bags can be wiped down with a damp cloth on the inside and outside.
Cost: The X2 retails for $98, other BabyMel products range from $30-$98
Constructive Thoughts: I wish the bag came in a few prints or patterns, I would love one part to be a pattern and the other to be a solid. Some of their bags come in the cutest prints, so this would be a great feature for the X2!
Miscellaneous Love: Where do I start? My most used features are the adjustable strap (I love it as a messenger or shoulder bag) and the strollerstrap, I hang it from the Target cart all the time! Talk about handy! The bag is so attractive, it’s doesn’t look to cutesy or to sporty for me, just a simple, clean look in nice colors. I love that I won’t be getting rid of it the minute the kids are done with diapers! I will be able to seperate the bags and use them for years and no one will even guess that it once was my diaper bag.

Thanks again to our wonderful giveaway sponsor, SoftBums! I am in love with our SoftBums PowerPuff print diaper. Waverly wore it to her surgery and had all the nurses checking out how cute, soft and easily sizeable it was! I think I won at least one expecting nurse over while we were there! But seriously, who could resist that cute fluff?!
{Congrats to our SoftBum Winner….}
Katie S.

Waverly’s hernia surgery went well. Thanks to everyone for the well wishes! I am looking forward to her feeling better and also so grateful everything went well and for great medical care! What a blessing!
I was allowed to go back in the operating room with her so I wore some “official gear”. I loved our matching hats, it gave us a giggle beforehand….took a bit of the nervous edge off! Even with our positive attitudes the whole experience was pretty sad. Seeing our tiny girl in scrubs is never anything we had hoped for and I wished so much I could take her spot!
Being in the OR was pretty hard. I was only there until she “fell asleep” on the table, which was really her screaming and me holding her hands down and singing “Twinkle Twinkle” to her while they put the mask o’ sleep on her. Whew…it was tough to walk out and leave her there. I’m so grateful to be snuggled up and nursing her now, it’s great to have that behind us!
Blessings!
Liz
